Effect of foliar application with yeast extract in total biomass and protein ratio of five Sorghum bicolor cultivars
الملخص
A field experiment was conducted in the agricultural fields located within the Halijah district, south of Baghdad province, during the spring seasons of 2022 to evaluate the effects of foliar application concentrations of yeast extract on seed yield , seed yield components and quality of five sorghum cultivars. The layout of the experiments was split plot design with three replicates, The five cultivars (Kavier, research 70, Rabeh, Inqaz and local) occupies the main plots while yeast extract concentrations (0, 5, 10,15) g/L occupied the sub-plots. Results showed that experiments are summarized as follows: plant height, number of tillers per plant, leaf area index, protein ratio % of seeds, biomass yield increased with the increase in yeast extract concentrations .And the best concentration in most of growth characters and yield was 15 g/L-1. The cultivar (research 70) was superior in plant height .The local cultivar was superior in number of tillers per plant and biomass yield.
