Field Evaluation of Specialized Food Traps Which Reinforcement with Insecticides to Control the Eastern Red Wasp Vespa Orientals in some apiaries of Baghdad and Wasit Governorate

Abstract

This study which was carried out in four apiaries in four region of Baghdad and Wasit governorates, at a rate of one apiary in Essaouira, one apiary Al-Hafriya, one apiary Al-Zaafaraniyah and one apiary Abu Ghraib, so we used three types of traps, they were cone trap, Fixed trap and Sticky trap and also used four types of baits they were fish entrails, beef, cow lung, and a fermented sugar solution and four insecticides they were Lannate ، Diazinon EC ،%60 Deltamethrin and Spinosad.

  Results showed that the best trap was the cone trap and the best taste was beef, while the best insecticide was Lannate  .The results of the study also showed an effect of the use of cone trap with beef bait enhanced with Lannate  insecticide to controlling the red wasp and its effect on the brood area, honey and pollen produced by bees in the apiaries that were selected in the provinces of Baghdad and Wasit, as well as their efficiency in catching and killing the red wasp in these apiaries compared with clear reduction of these factors in comparison apiary in Al-Hafriya region
